An audit was performed on the SickKids Foundation of Canada, with respect to socially sustainable design.
Being the foremost successful paediatric philanthropist association in the country, countless lives are affected by their efforts, but how can we ensure those changes are as effective and efficient as possible?
By isolating values put forward through their public outreach, ethos and vision statements, we were able to create a framework by way of holding the SickKids Foundation (SKF) to their word.
We then created a systems impact map, cataloging revenue streams, partnerships, implicit tactics and behavioural adaptations created through interaction with SKF.
By utilizing the framework for social sustainability, the boons and advantages became apparent as the impact map was reassessed.
Further analysis revealed specific pain points that could be disrupted by design opportunities.
With tracking and categorical amalgamation of emerging trends in philanthropic, sustainability, and auxiliary marketplaces, friction points were then synthesized and became positive contributions.
These positive contributions then boosted the SKF public image, providing the organization with a public appeal that garnered potential for a greater contribution based network from the millennial generation.
This document was presented to the collected VPs of the SickKids Foundation, in conjunction with the Schulich School of Business, and is currently being considered as part of the SKF business management and public outreach incubator.
